Vulcan's last public display flight at Bedfordshire air show

The UK's last flying Vulcan has made its final display flight at an air show for the public over Bedfordshire.

Crowds gathered at Old Warden near Biggleswade to watch the post-war jet which was restored for flight by the Leicestershire-based Vulcan to the Sky Trust, external.

Martin Withers, a Vulcan pilot, flew his last public display flight last week at Church Fenton in North Yorkshire and was watching this time.

He said: "It's very definitely the last public air show for the Vulcan - the last remaining British four-engine jet - and the whole thing is desperately sad and it certainly gave a lump in my throat.

"As a pilot I just love flying it and when I look at it in the sky it's a thing of beauty."

The plane will be making further flights, but not at air shows.
