Library of Birmingham: Video tour of new £189m building
Birmingham's new £189m library has "echoes of the traditional round reading room with a modern twist", according to its director.
Brian Gambles, who has run the seven-year project to build the new Library of Birmingham, said combining a traditional building with digital facilities was "absolutely essential to the vision".
The new building in Centenary Square has more than 200 computers for the public, as well as access points that allow people to use their own tablets and laptops.
It will house a collection of one million books, of which 400,000 are visible to the public.
