Baby-death parents criticise West Midlands Ambulance Service

A six-month-old baby died and a second almost lost his life within two months of each other, after 999 calls were not classed as the highest emergency.

Six-month-old Cainan Moore, from Wolverhampton, died in October 2012 after his brain was starved of oxygen.

Just two months later, six-week-old Thomas Passant from Bridgnorth was left waiting more than 40 minutes for an ambulance.

West Midlands Ambulance Service assessed them as red 2 - which means an ambulance is not automatically sent along with a paramedic car.
