First flight from Birmingham airport's new £40m runway

The first direct flight to China from Birmingham Airport's newly extended £40m runway has taken off.

The China Southern Airlines flight departed at around 13:10 BST after a short delay.

Midlands Today's Peter Plisner was at the airport to see it leave for Beijing.
