Woodpecker in Wolverhampton caught in fishing line
The RSPCA has released footage of a woodpecker caught in fishing wire to warn of the dangers that discarded lines pose to wildlife.
The bird became trapped in line hanging from a tree next to a canal in Wolverhampton.
The RSPCA officer who rescued the "panicked" animal said it had a barbed hook in a wing and was left "swinging like a pendulum".
The woodpecker was due to be returned to the wild on Tuesday, after being treated at a rescue centre in Shropshire.
