Birmingham man used petrol to attack mosque worshipper

CCTV footage captured the moment a man followed an elderly worshipper as he left a mosque in Birmingham before setting him alight.

Mohammed Abbkr, 29, was convicted of two counts of attempted murder over injuries to Hashi Odowa, 82, near an Islamic centre in Ealing, and Mohammed Rayaz, 70, in Birmingham in near identical incidents.

Abbkr, from Edgbaston, Birmingham, sprayed both men with petrol from a water bottle before setting them on fire.

He is due to be sentenced on 17 November, after psychiatric reports are prepared.
