'Fortunate' M6 lorry driver suffers only minor injuries after blowout near Birmingham
A lorry driver was "very fortunate" to survive a crash as a result of a tyre blowout, motorway police said.
He was on the M6 in the West Midlands on Thursday when it sent his vehicle crashing into barriers and off the carriageway.
A stretch of the southbound side of the motorway was closed for a time between junction seven for Walsall and Spaghetti Junction, near Birmingham.
The Central Motorway Police Group said he was fortunate to "get out alive with minor injuries".
They reminded drivers to regularly check their tyres.
