Bristol woman 'quit sugar and beat diabetes' after diagnosis

"I quit sugar and beat diabetes," says Becky Murray.

After 20 years of failed diets, the 46-year-old mother from Bristol cut all added sugar from her diet and took up running after being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.

Her home city of Bristol is starting 2017 by joining the Sugar Smart campaign, led by Jamie Oliver, to encourage more people to cut down on sugar.

Diabetes is increasing in the UK, with Public Health England predicting five million people will have the disease by 2035 unless things change.
