Cambridge rowers set world record with Amazon adventure

Two men have achieved a world first by rowing the navigable length of the Amazon without back up.

In August Antony Wright and Mark de Rond, from Cambridge, set out to try something which had never been done before and completed their 2,077 miles (3342 km) mission in 31 days.

But the pair said rowing one of the world's longest rivers was not without risk. The Brazilian Navy insisted they signed a contract promising not to row after dark, but the men were undeterred.
