Cancer research: Genes In Space video game helps scientists

Scientists in Cambridge have developed a video game app which allows players to help researchers find new treatments for cancer.

Called Genes In Space, the smartphone game, external, uses the "collective force" of players around the world to analyse "significant amounts of real genetic data", said developers.

Researchers at Cancer Research UK hope the data can be used to unlock genetic clues about the causes of breast cancer in order to develop new life saving treatments.
