WHO: 'We need to look at ways to prevent cancer disease'

The World Health Organisation has warned the number of cancer cases globally is increasing at an alarming rate.

It predicts the number of cancer cases will reach 24 million a year by 2035.

The organisation says half of cancers can be prevented through vaccinations and better promotion of healthy lifestyles.

Dr Chris Wild, director of the WHO's International Agency for Research on Cancer, said: "We're not going to be able to address this problem by simply improving the treatment of the disease."
