Charity claims authorities slow to react to Canadian reports of abuse

A leading charity dealing with child abuse tells the BBC that British authorities did not react fast enough when told by Canadian police of their suspicions about a Cambridgeshire doctor.

Marilyn Hawes, who runs Enough Abuse UK, said the country was crying out for a computer system which alerts all authorities as soon as a name is entered.

Dr Myles Bradbury, who worked at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge, has admitted 25 abuse offences against terminally ill boys.

Ms Hawes said families must be severely hurt at the "double whammy" of abuse and illness.
