'Prolific' shoplifter's stealing spree in Peterborough caught on camera

A woman described by police as a "prolific shoplifter" has been caught on CCTV stealing from a clothing store and a supermarket.

The footage shows the 51-year-old woman filling a trolley with six coats and a pair of jeans worth £535 from Next at Serpentine Green Shopping Centre in Peterborough, before leaving without paying.

Another video shows her putting meat worth £121 into a bag at Waitrose, where she was caught by security.

Cambridgeshire Police said she also stole 20 bottles of alcohol worth about £600 from a shop in the same month, breaching a criminal behaviour order (CBO) that had banned her from two retail parks and several supermarkets.

She admitted four counts of theft from a shop, two counts of breaching a CBO and possession of heroin and was given a 26-week suspended prison sentence, and told to pay more than £1,000 to the shops she stole from.
