Six-year-old scores first goal for Wisbech St Mary since cancer
A video has captured the moment a six-year-old boy scored a goal in his first football game after completing treatment for cancer.
Hunter, who plays for Wisbech St Mary under-sevens, was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma in September after visiting the doctor with stomach pains.
Having just finished chemotherapy, he was not fit enough to play a full game, so his father Ryan, who coaches the team, substituted him on for 10 minutes.
"He managed to score that goal and I was in pieces," said Mr Martin, who ran on to the pitch to embrace his son.
The club set up a fundraising page to support the family, which received more than £30,000 in donations, and Mr Martin said they would have been "really in trouble" without it.
The family, who live in King's Lynn, also received messages of support from football teams around the country, including a video message from Manchester City's Jack Grealish.
"Football's got no colours when it comes to things like that, everyone gets involved and I'll be forever thankful," said Mr Martin.
