Sam Goodchild eyes global yacht race
Ocean racer Sam Goodchild, 22, from Cornwall has launched a campaign to compete in the next Vendee Globe solo round the world yacht race.
Last year he competed in some high profile races in the offshore calendar, including the Transat AG2R, Global Ocean Race, Solitaire du Figaro and Normandy Channel Race.
In 2013 he intends to take part in a number of solo races, which he hopes will give him the experience needed to reach his ultimate goal of the 2016 global race.
The race, seen as one of the ultimate challenges for offshore skippers, involves sailing around the world from west to east via the three major capes of Good Hope, Leeuwin and the Horn.
