Shakespeare's 'ghost' takes on armed robbers

A man who plays the role of Shakespeare's ghost in Stratford-upon-Avon has described taking on armed robbers who attacked a jewellers' shop.

John Jarvis, a street performer who dresses in white Elizabethan costume, said he 'took a swing' at one of the robbers as they smashed their way into Christopher Poel jewellers using sledgehammers and a crowbar.

Warwickshire Police said two men had been arrested.
