Terry Deary marks 20th anniversary of Horrible Histories
Children's author Terry Deary visited a bookshop in Cumbria to celebrate the 20th anniversary of his "gory" history books.
The Horrible Histories author, who was born in Sunderland, visited the Hedgehog Bookshop in Penrith as part of a tour to support independent bookshops.
The popular children's book series is to end 20 years after his first book The Terrible Tudors and The Awesome Egyptians, was published in 1993.
Mr Deary said he has to "make sure" small bookshops stay open, because if there are no bookshops "very soon there will be no books".
