Blencathra bidders hoping for second chance to buy mountain

A community group is hoping it may get another chance to buy a mountain in the Lake District.

Last week it was announced that Blencathra had been sold by the Earl of Lonsdale to a private bidder.

Eden District council has now registered the mountain as a community asset, but it is not clear if this latest turn of events will stop the sale.

Blencathra was put on the market in May by the Earl of Lonsdale to help settle an inheritance tax bill.
