Carlisle pupils resume lessons in temporary classes after school hit by flood

Hundreds of children have gone back to school in temporary classrooms after their school was badly damaged by flooding.

Newman Secondary School was destroyed by the floods during Storm Desmond last month.

The floods affected three schools in Carlisle, with about 3,000 students affected in total.

Newman Secondary School was so badly flooded it may have to be completely rebuilt, or possibly built on a new site altogether.

Headteacher John McAuley says the staff are determined to minimise the disruption for the children
