Derbyshire YouTube sensation Peter Oakley dies

A Derbyshire pensioner, who has died aged 86, became an unlikely internet sensation.

Peter Oakley, from Bakewell, posted more than 400 videos to the website YouTube between 2006 and 2014 and had more than 43,000 subscribers worldwide to his channel.

He commented on everyday events such as the Olympics, the royal baby and even his own birthday. His first contribution received more than 3m hits.

Mr Oakley's greatest moment was with the pensioners singing group, The Zimmers. The video took the band to Hollywood.

Friend Bill Nicholls, who knew him for over 25 years, said Mr Oakley's online pleasure "kept him young".
