Chef promotes apprenticeships
Two-star Michelin chef Michael Caines has said he would like to see industry and colleges working together to provide appropriate apprenticeships for young people to give them the skills they need.
The Gidleigh Park chef, who was named as the student of the year in 1987 at Exeter College Catering College, runs his own training academy.
The two-year course emphasises the practical skills of the hospitality and catering industry and includes visits to restaurants and hotels, work experience placements and talks by top chefs.
