Prince George christening continues Honiton lace link

People in Honiton are hoping Prince George's christening could spark renewed interest in its traditional lace making.

He will be wearing a replica of a robe made from Honiton lace in 1841 for the christening of Queen Victoria's eldest daughter, Victoria, Princess Royal.

The Queen, her children and her grandchildren, with the exception of James, Viscount Severn, were all christened in the robe.

In order to preserve the original, the Queen commissioned Angela Kelly to make the replica gown in 2008.
