Great crested newt stops rail company in its tracks

A rare breed of newt has forced Network Rail to delay improvement work to its track in Devon.

Great crested newts, which are protected by EU and UK law, have been found near the site.

Network Rail has put up several miles of special newt fencing so it can remove the animals before it starts work at Whiteball tunnel in Burlescombe.
