Weymouth Olympics parking charges reduced

Parking charges in Weymouth have been cut following lower than expected visitor numbers to the town during the Olympic sailing events.

Retailers have complained business is suffering from the resort being quieter than anticipated.

The council said it would "help local businesses and encourage visitors".

While the ticketed sailing spectator area has sold out, the 15,000-capacity "live arena" on the beach has rarely had more than 1,000 people at a time.
