Atos assessments: Widower claims system 'unfair'

A transplant patient who died nine days after her benefits were stopped should never have been declared fit for work by Atos, according to her husband.

Linda Wootton, from Rayleigh in Essex, had two heart and lung transplants over 30 years, and was assessed unfit for work five years ago.

But in January Mrs Wootton failed a benefits assessment by Atos.
