Colchester Hospital's death rates under review
An Essex hospital trust rated as one of the worst in the country in relation to its mortality rates will be visited by inspectors on Tuesday.
Colchester Hospital NHS Trust was identified in April as one of 14 in England that have had a higher than expected mortality ratio over the past two years.
The Keogh Mortality Review follows the scandal at Stafford Hospital.
The families of some of those who have died at Colchester Hospital have complained of mistreatment, misdiagnosis and a lack of basic care.
The trust accepts some aspects were sub-standard and has apologised. It is confident it's delivering safer care and is putting patients first.
