Women's Tour of Britain: Cyclists in Essex crash "near miss"

A man riding a mobility scooter was milliseconds away from bringing the third stage of the Women's Tour of Britain to a crashing halt in Essex on Friday.

The man crossed a corner on Jaywick Lane, Clacton, seemingly "oblivious" to the high-speed race and narrowly missing being run over by the race pack.

Sam Wilkinson, 12, who filmed the near miss on his phone, said: "I was really shocked, I thought he was going to get clipped and they were all going to pile up, if he'd only been a moment later it would have been mayhem."
