TikTok: Dog training tips from 'small-town Essex boy'

A dog trainer says the reaction to his TikTok videos has been "insane" after he attracted a million followers during the pandemic, as people sought help with their lockdown pets.

Adam Spivey and business partner Evan Norfolk turned their attention to social media when lockdown meant training sessions could no longer take place in person.

They have since amassed fans from all over the world and run coffee mornings for those in the UK, where Adam said he had been asked to sign T-shirts like a celebrity.

He said: "A million people interested in me, a small-town boy from Essex. I'm thinking, this is insane.

"It's just straight to the point, no filter, easy-to-follow advice."

The RSPCA advises dog owners to do their research when looking for a trainer and recommends all training be reward-based.

Its advice page, external says: "Giving your dog something they really like such as food, toys or praise when they show a particular behaviour means that they are more likely to do it again."
