Southend's pier and its quirky trains

The world's longest pleasure pier has welcomed a record number of visitors so far this year.

Some 390,000 people have been to Southend Pier in 2022, the council said.

It beats the previous record of 364,000 set in 2018.

Southend-on-Sea City Council said the pier was going from "strength to strength".
