UKIP members argue over former candidate Matt Ellery

After Matt Ellery won a seat on Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, UKIP councillor Stephen West and UKIP party agent Phil Heath disagreed during an interview over whether he still represented their party.

Mr Ellery was forced to stand as an independent after he was criticised for posting on Facebook, external that he "felt like stabbing someone". He also branded local women as "pug ugly".

Mr West told the BBC's Ben Moore, "He's going to be a UKIP councillor, he's been elected on a UKIP mandate," however, Mr Heath said nothing had been decided and it was, "up to Mr Ellery... it's got to be sorted".
