D-Day anniversary: Historic gathering at WW2 airfield
Daedalus air base in Lee-on-the-Solent, Hampshire, was one of the busiest airfields on the south coast during the D-Day preparations in 1944.
The airfield hosted an historic gathering of aircraft which played a crucial role in the invasion when eight Dakota transport planes from all over Europe and the US flew in on Tuesday morning.
On Wednesday, they will fly to France dropping more than a hundred parachutists over Normandy to start the French commemoration of the 70th anniversary of D-Day.
