Government funding settlement: Cuts bite in Southampton
As councils hear their future funding settlements from government on Thursday, cuts are continuing to bite in the south of England.
Southampton City Council is consulting on closing nearly half its libraries, although it hopes community groups may help run some of those under threat.
The south coast authority will hope for a positive grant from government as it tries to save £30m from its budget next year.
But Radio Solent's political reporter Jessica Parker said the authority was facing a backlash.
