Armoured vehicles leave Southampton bound for Estonia

The British Army is sending armoured vehicles and other equipment to Estonia as part of a major Nato deployment to Russia's neighbour.

Fifty Warrior vehicles belonging to the Tidworth-based 5th Battalion The Rifles were among the vehicles leaving Southampton earlier.

Eight hundred British troops are due to be stationed in Estonia as part of one of the biggest deployments to eastern Europe in decades.

Defence Secretary Michael Fallon has said the increased military presence was to "deter Russia from any further aggression" after the annexation of Crimea from Ukraine in 2014.
