Portsmouth: Social media walks tackling loneliness young women
The issue of loneliness among young women is being tackled by a group set up by university students.
Girls Who Walk Portsmouth gets like-minded women to meet every weekend to walk and make new friends as that can be difficult for some after leaving education.
It also promotes the physical and mental health benefits of walking.
There are 30 similar groups have been started across the UK after the original walks were organised in Manchester.
Ambassador Daisy Hobman said: “Once you’re out of education, it’s so hard to make those friendships.
"People fall out and people go down different paths and move away so it’s nice having this platform so that you can connect later in life.”
