We Were There: Eddie Brown took part in D-Day landings
Eddie Brown took part in the D-Day landings during World War Two.
The 100-year-old from Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, was a wartime despatch rider who worked in the London area and also across France, The Netherlands and eventually Berlin.
While stationed in Croydon he met a young woman in a cake shop called Win - and after D-Day he decided to fly home without permission to see the woman who eventually became his wife of 70 years.
We Were There aims to collect as many first-hand accounts as possible by 2025, the 80th anniversary of the end of World War Two, to preserve veterans' accounts for future generations.
The BBC is currently working on the project with a number of partners including the Normandy Memorial Trust and Royal British Legion. Some of the stories collected may be shared with our partners and used on BBC News platforms.
