Chatham Dockyard closing ceremony: Archive from Radio Kent

Chatham Dockyard closed its gates to more than 400 years of shipbuilding history on 31 March 1984.

Six months before, on 30 September 1983, a special ceremony was held signalling the end of the Royal Navy's link to the Medway towns.
