Kent woman takes legal action over refusal to freeze eggs

A Kent woman is taking legal action after being refused funding for her eggs to be frozen before she undergoes a bone marrow transplant and chemotherapy.

Lizzie Rose, 25, from Margate, fears the treatment, for the inflammatory bowel condition Crohn's disease, will leave her infertile.

The NHS says it will not pay to freeze and store her eggs, claiming there is "extremely limited evidence to demonstrate effectiveness".

BBC South East Today's Simon Jones spoke to Miss Rose and her lawyer Merry Varney.
