Weather vane returned from Folkestone to Ypres
A weather vane found in the rubble of a Belgian church destroyed in the First Battle of Ypres in 1915 has been returned to its original home.
St Catherine's Church was flattened by heavy artillery in World War One, along with the surrounding village of Zillebeke.
The weather vane, which had fallen from the roof, was rescued by British soldiers and taken back to Shorncliffe Barracks in Folkestone where it remained until earlier this year as a memorial on the library building.
It has now been returned to the rebuilt St Catherine's Church, where it was welcomed in a special service.
