D-Day veteran awarded Legion d'Honneur medal
A veteran from Morecambe has been presented with France's highest military honour to recognise the part he played in World War Two's D-Day landings.
Albert Nield was part of the first wave of Allied forces who landed in Normandy in June 1944 in his role as a tank gunner.
Last year the French government said it wanted to recognise the selfless acts of heroism and determination displayed by all surviving veterans of the landings, and of the wider campaigns to liberate France in 1944, by awarding them with the Légion d'honneur.
BBC North West Tonight's Dave Guest paid him a visit.
