Blackburn students fast during exams for Ramadan
The Muslim holy month of Ramadan has begun and many young people in Blackburn are fasting from sunrise to sunset - a particular challenge for those taking exams.
During this period of spiritual discipline, students taking their GCSEs and A-levels at Blackburn College Sixth Form will consume no food or water for up to 19 hours a day.
Though fasting is a challenge at this time of year, many say studying is a welcome distraction.
