Kellingley Colliery visit for 'inspiring' miners' wives
A group of miners' wives who staged an "inspiring" five-day sit-in underground to protest against pit closures are to be the focus of a new Radio 4 play.
Women Against Pit Closures formed during the miners' strike in 1984 and staged their protest, led by Arthur Scargill's wife Anne, in Lancashire in 1993.
A play based on their story was told on BBC Radio 4, on Monday.
The cast, led by actress and writer Maxine Peake, joined the women on a tour of Kellingley Colliery in West Yorkshire.
