Play honours West Yorkshire cycling champion

A new play written by actor Maxine Peake tells the story of a Leeds cycling champion who dominated the sport for more than 25 years.

Beryl Burton won seven world titles and set a number of UK records throughout the 1960s and 1970s.

The play is being staged at the West Yorkshire Playhouse in Leeds as part of an arts festival marking the Tour de France cycle race starting in the city.
