Stamford Hospital to remain open after rescue plan announced

After being threatened with closure for months, the future of Stamford Hospital has been secured.

Peterborough and Stamford NHS Foundation Trust, which runs the hospital, has accepted a rescue plan from health watchdog Monitor after getting into serious debt.

The Department of Health is currently providing £40m to the trust each year to continue to fund services, and as part of new plans it must save £10m per year.
