Rise in laser pen attacks on airline pilots over London

There has been a rise in the number of incidents in which handheld lasers are being used to distract airline pilots flying over London, police have said.

The Met said in 2010 there were 145 reported incidents. In 2012 the number rose to 252.

Officers say lives are being put at risk and have released new images to show just how dangerous the crime can be.

BBC London's Guy Smith speaks to Dr Rob Hunter from the British Airline Pilots Association and Sgt Richard Brandon from the Met Police's Air Support Unit.
