Crossrail to generate 55,000 jobs

By the time the 73-mile long Crossrail is completed in 2018 it promises to have generated 55,000 full-time jobs.

Europe's biggest infrastructure project, which will link Maidenhead with east London, will cost about £16bn.

The Business Secretary Vince Cable said the project would provide a much needed boost to the UK's economy.
