Hackney Marshes: Proposals for more major events

Residents are being asked if they would like to see more large events held on east London's Hackney Marshes following last year's Radio 1's Big Weekend.

But sports teams who use the pitches say the fields are yet to recover and fixtures are being cancelled as a result.

A Hackney council spokesman said about a third of the 100,000 people that attended the Big Weekend concert were from the borough, so there is demand for these type of events from residents.

A public consultation on the plans ends on 23 April.

BBC London's Warren Nettleford spoke to Richard Greenleaf, chairman of the Stoke Newington Cricket Club, and Councillor Jonathan McShane.
