London's only bilingual free school opens its doors

London's only bilingual free school has opened its doors as the government tries to tackle the looming crisis in school places.

Judith Kerr Primary in Herne Hill, south London, will offer lessons in German and English and is one of 32 free schools opening this month.

Free schools are tax payer funded, free from local authority control and are run by teachers, parents and community groups.
