Arrests after crackdown on south London gang

One of London's most notorious gangs has been targeted in a series of early morning raids.

Known as the Gas gang, they are believed to be responsible for up to three quarters of all violent crime in some parts of south London.

Up to 29 people were arrested in several parts of the UK for crimes including supplying drugs and money laundering.

The Metropolitan Police said the operation was aimed at "senior, high ranking members".

BBC London reporter Marc Ashdown spoke with Det Supt Martin Huxley and Cheryl Sealey from Lambeth Independent Advisory Group.
