Writer Alan Simpson: Tony Hancock was an 'everyman'

Comedy star Tony Hancock has been honoured with a blue plaque outside his former London home.

Hancock's Half Hour writers Ray Galton and Alan Simpson discuss their memories of working with Mr Hancock, describing him as an "everyman". Mr Simpson added: "There's a Tony Hancock - the character of Hancock - throughout literature. If you read Shakespeare or Dickens... they've got a Hancock there."

First broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Monday 12 May.
