Eleven new free schools to be created in London

Eleven new free schools are to be created in London using former police police buildings and other land owned by City Hall, the Mayor of London has announced.

The aim is to speed up the building of schools needed to meet an estimated shortfall of a 180,000 places by 2016.

Matthew Laban, head teacher of Kingfisher Hall Primary Academy tells BBC London's Karl Mercer there is a demand for free schools from parents.
